HSPVA students treated themselves to Cloud 10 ice cream after a successful (and exhausting!) three weeks of school. We got to channel all of our screaming for ice cream!
Harvey may have caused a rain check on the whole "first day of school" thing but not on the Student Council spirit night at Dairy Ashford. With over 80+ HSPVA students there, we represented HSPVA well. The evening was sponsored by Avril Lavigne's 00s hit "Sk8er Boi", whether or not she knows it. HSPVA and Student Council members planned, prepped, and participated in making this year's Artist Academy the best one yet. We welcomed the incoming freshman class of 2021 to HSPVA!
There were games, letters-to-their-senior-selves, locker combinations, laptop pickup, a Happening, bonding, and lunch. Student Council collaborated with the Asian Pacific American Alliance club and Middle Eastern club to celebrate Asian and Middle Eastern culture. Over 20 countries were represented. There was henna, lantern decorating, painting, food, and live performances.
In true PVA fashion, there was the first HSPVA Film Festival occurring simultaneously and a mariachi concert afterwards. There's always something going on at our school! (Pictures by Kenneth Moreno) That's right. HSPVA students and teachers are not only artsy, they are also sporty! Student Council hosted one week of competitive (yet friendly) sports the week before hectic AP testing. If there's one thing online PE has taught us, it's that exercise is a great way to relieve stress. We started the week with volleyball, then soccer, then basketball, and ended our successful season in true PVA fashion with a dance-off.
And because no competition would be complete without recognition, we had an awards ceremony for the overall winning team....STUDENTS! |
